Emaar Entertainment required an interactive self service kiosk experience for visitors across its entertainment and retail destinations. The objective was to design a fast, intuitive interface that helps users navigate options, access services, and complete actions independently in high foot traffic environments.
Objective
Enables quick task completion for walk up users
Works seamlessly for first time visitors
Remains readable in bright indoor lighting
Supports multiple use cases and services
Scales across locations and screen sizes
My Role
UI/UX Designer
Responsible for interface design, interaction patterns, layout systems, prototyping, and usability focused decisions.
Design Process
Kiosks operate in noisy, crowded environments with users standing, often in a hurry. I studied how people interact with public touchscreens and identified key friction points such as slow discovery, unclear buttons, and visual overload.
The interface was structured around the most common visitor tasks: Browse attractions, Book experiences, View show timings, Get directions, Access offers. Each flow was mapped to reduce cognitive load and preventing drop off.
The UI balanced Emaar’s premium brand feel with practical kiosk constraints. Key elements included: Clean grid system, Bold typography for readability, Brand aligned color palette, Icon driven navigation.
I focused on one tap access to core actions, persistent controls, timeout resets for privacy, clear success states pattern.
Interactive prototypes were built to simulate real kiosk use to refine button sizing, flow length and instruction clarity.
Outcome
The final kiosk design delivered a frictionless walk up experience aligned with Emaar’s luxury positioning. It improved navigation clarity, reduced staff assistance for common queries, and created a scalable foundation for deployment across multiple venues.
